How to protect your Home's Siding from moisture

A pretty wet season like Fall and Winter can cause several damages in your siding, so keep in mind the following tips that have  US ROOFING Contractors for keeping moisture away from the siding of your home.

Modern siding systems and its materials are better at drying and keeping water away from your house than those from years ago, but it´s important to know how clean and keep harmful moisture away from your siding.

1-Keep your Siding clean:
Especially in the fall and winter keep all debris and leaves away from your house.
Any amount of garden debris can hold moisture and become a home for some insects. If this sits next to your house, it becomes a bridge for the insects or moisture to get under your siding system and into the wood behind it.

2-Raise up the Siding:
If you’re thinking about replacing your siding or buying a new home make sure there is enough space between the last row of siding and the ground. Space should be enough to keep rain from splashing up and getting behind your siding system. If the siding is close to the ground it’s probably that water, insects, and even rodents get behind the siding.

3-Cut back plants:
Plants that grow nearby to your house can be a problem since the plants need water and are a natural home for insects. Cutting back a few inches can be enough to keep water away from your home and allow for better air flow for drying your house after it rains.

At US ROOFING Contractors our commitment is to make you feel safe!
