Tips to clean aluminum gutters

Aluminum gutters are an effective way to protect your roof and your home from damage caused by water. But you have to keep them clean and clear to maintain efficiency and protect from damage to your home.

Aluminum gutters should be washed at least twice a year. If you have trees near the roofs, or if there are many storms, they may need to be cleaned more than twice a year to make sure they do their jobs. Even if you have screens or gutter covers, they still have to be cleaned.

When cleaning the aluminum gutters, you must use a ladder high, the ladder must be secured to the ground. If you use an extension ladder, do not lean the ladder against the aluminum gutters. Since it can damage the gutters and make the ladder unstable.

You will also need a long water hose with an accessory that has a sprayer, a small garden trowel, a sturdy trash bag, and a plumbing snake.

First, remove the leaves, sticks and leaves using the garden pallet.
Once you have removed the debris, use the hose to spray the inside of the channels. Point the sprayer toward the drop peak. Use medium pressure, strong enough to remove dirt, but not so strong as to cause mud splashes in your home. Be careful not to wind the water hose around the legs of the ladder.

Spray the hose on the discharge spout to clean the remaining dirt and debris from the aluminum chute.
