Initially you should observe what type of gutter cover you should install. There are three types to consider: Foam, Screen and Reverse Curve. The screens allow water to pass through the mesh and prevent leaves and other debris from entering the gutter. The foam works as absorbents that do not admit the passage of waste, they are only temporary covers as the foam will gradually become clogged with dust and other smaller debris. The best option is the reverse cover, this is more difficult to do and it is better to buy it.

If you are going to manufacture them, take measurements of the length and width of the gutters before purchasing the materials. Buy channel mesh or enough foams to cover the entire length of the channel.

For screen channel covers, measure the area of ​​the channel and with that mold cut the mesh and use that measurement to cut the correct pieces. Leave at least 2 inches of margin on the sides to make room for the clips or screws.


On the screen cover, screw each side securely on the roof and edge of the raceway. Leave a distance of 12 inches between the screws. Use a sealant to prevent the screw holes from causing water leakage.
