Washing the siding with water under pressure

Pressure cleaning is sometimes the only way you can keep your siding completely clean. Using the pressure washer in the siding is delicate because the pressure of the water can affect the material and cause damage to the siding.

At US ROOFING Contractors located in Augusta-Georgia, Grovetown, North Augusta and Martinez, we share a couple tips on how to use pressure cleaning on your  siding:

Never use the highest pressure
The highest pressure is too strong for most siding. The pressure washer shoots a concentrated jet of water that hits the siding with a very large force. The force of the water hits the siding at multiple angles, which can cause the fasteners to come loose, and this can cause the siding to fly off the wall. The replacement of the siding can cost a lot of money. To avoid this, always use the pressure washer at a medium setting. The water current will be equally effective without being exessively strong.

Wash down
When using a pressure washer, we often want to remove as much dirt from the siding as possible very quickly, but doing the job quickly to save time will only cause the siding to be damaged. When you shoot the water jet from under the siding the water will hit the edge of each piece of siding. If there is a lot of pressure when you do this, you can release the siding and it will not be clean. The best way to do it is at a descending angle so that the water cascades down the siding.

With these tips you can do an efficient wash that will make your siding last much longer in good condition.
